Three separatist leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik, who are spearheading the current unrest by issuing weekly shutdown calendars, have asked the Bar Association to end boycott of courts on Tuesday and instead appear in the cases of people arrested or detained during the unrest.
"Joint resistance leaders have appealed to the Bar association to appear in courts on Tuesday for the jailed people as their number is swelling with each passing day", the leaders said in a joint statement.
"They are in dire need of legal help. Rest of the programme remains unchanged", it said.
CM visits Chrar-e-Sharief
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday visited the shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Noor-ud-Din (RA) located at Chrar town in Budgam district. She paid her obeisance at the shrine and prayed for peace and development in the state. The CM, who is also the chairperson of the J&K Waqf Board, announced the release of Rs 2.5 crore for completing the works and upgrading facilities for the devotees.
Mehbooba inspects AIIMS site
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday visited the proposed site of AIIMS in the Awantipora area of Pulwama district. She took stock of the process of land acquisition for the purpose and creating facilities of drinking water and power supply at the site.
