Pay taxes with old Rs 500 notes till December 15

Citizens can take a breather now as the government has issued a notice saying that the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) must accept the old Rs 500 notes for paying taxes till December 15.
Earlier, the government had said that the old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes would be accepted only till November 24. “We got a letter on Friday saying that we can accept the old Rs 500 notes till December 15,” said deputy municipal commissioner, Rohidas Dorkulkar.
Officials have appealed to citizens to pay taxes soon.“We are relieved as we still have a few old notes and did not have the time to deposit them,” said Raju Rahane, an employee of a private firm.
