High School Roundup: CdM’s Rodman shines in girls’ soccer win

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 5, Saddleback 1

WESTMINSTER — Trinity Rodman produced two assists and one goal for the Sea Kings in their season opener in the Westminster tournament on Friday.

Taylor Rosen scored two goals, and Celeste Wayne and Caroline Wood added one goal each for CdM (1-0), which plays against Orange again at Westminster High Saturday at 9:15 a.m.

Pacifica Christian 5, Hawthorne Math & Science Academy 0

Junior Isabel Hadley produced two goals and one assist to lead the Tritons to their first varsity win in the program’s first varsity match on Thursday.

Sophomores Eunice Choi and Sadie Hill also added goals.

Costa Mesa 8, Bishop Conaty-Our Lady of Loretto 0

Rayleen Chavez, Veronica Zambrano and Naomi Cruz scored two goals each on Friday.

Natalia Guzman and Allyn Osorio added one goal each for the Mustangs.

Goalie Emma Warner produced the shutout.

Sage Hill 2, Jordan 0

Maya Roston scored a goal and added an assist to help the Lightning break out of a scoreless first half in their nonleague season opener at Sage Hill on Friday.

Marina Wild scored first for Sage Hill (1-0).

Goalie Sarah Lowey made four saves for the Lightning, who play host to Calvary Chapel Saturday at 11 a.m.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Corona del Mar 55, Touchton 51

DJ Rodman scored 17 points to lead the Sea Kings in the nonleague game on Thursday.

Kevin Kobrine added 12 points and Jake Hamilton finished with 11 points including three three-pointers for CdM (1-0).

BOYS’ SOCCER

Estancia 3, Segerstrom 0

Goalie Yona Lopez made five saves in his shutout for the Eagles in the nonleague game on Friday.

Rafael Espinoza, Nico Ramirez and George Martinez scored goals, while Ulisses Gomez and Daniel Segura had one assist each for Estancia (1-1).

WRESTLING

Captistrano Valley 56, Newport Harbor 17

Senior Ryan Sanson won by pin in 3 minutes, 18 seconds in the 120-pound weight class as a highlight for the Sailors in the nonleague dual match at NHHS on Thursday.

Senior Chris Aviles Senior (182) won by pin (3:08) and senior Diego Naranjo (138) won by forfeit.
