JAIPUR: Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) hospital in Ajmer is using multiple biometric technologies — be it a fingerprint sensor or an iris sensors to keep a close eye on doctors' and other staff's attendance to ensure that they come and leave hospital on time.
The hospital has installed biometric machines, which have fingerprint sensor and iris scanner. In Jaipur, too, Sawai Man Singh hospital has already installed biometric machines with fingerprint sensors.
In Pali, the health department along with the district administration, installed biometric machines in all government hospitals and health centres. The government is encouraging biometric attendance system in its hospitals as it had received complaints of medical staff do not come to the hospital on time and leave before time in some of the hospitals and health centres. But, now the hospital's’ administration has started taking initiative to monitor attendance of its staff through biometric machines.
Now, Ajmer’s JLN hospital has also taking such an initiative. The hospital has installed eight such machines and made it mandatory for each and every staff in the hospital including doctors, nursing staff, lab technicians and even grade IV employees to mark their attendance from the biometric attendance system.
“The biometric attendance system was mandatory for employee working on contractual basis but now we have made it mandatory for all the hospital staff from December 1,” Dr Vikrant Sharma, additional superintendent, JLN hospital said.
Dr Sharma said that they have installed biometric machines with iris scanner and also having fingerprint sensor because in case if a hospital’s employee got his finger hurt, in that case he can mark his attendance through iris scanner.
In the hospital, there are around 2,000 employees, who will be monitored by the new biometric devices.
Dr Sharma said that the timing for doctors in outpatient department is from 9am to 3 pm.
