CLAUDIO BRAVO: Not at fault for either goal but might have made the finishes more difficult for both Diego Costa and, in particular, Willian - 5 (out of 10).

NICOLAS OTAMENDI: Booked early on for a studs-up challenge on Diego Costa, meaning he must serve a one-match suspension, and then out-muscled by Costa for the equaliser - 5.

JOHN STONES: A couple of wobbly moments, including a poor header that allowed Eden Hazard to have a shot, but one of his better games - 6.

ALEKSANDAR KOLAROV: City's defence looked to have coped well with Chelsea's threat until they were caught out by three counter-attacks, with Kolarov left exposed - 5.

FERNANDINHO: Unable to staunch Chelsea's threat on the counter. Had a first-half header rightly disallowed for offside and was sent off in injury time after confronting Cesc Fabregas - 5.

ILKAY GUNDOGAN: The combative midfielder was a threat going forward but his final ball too often did not find a team-mate - 6.

LEROY SANE: Showed the danger he can cause with several driving runs but little end-product - 5.

JESUS NAVAS: Crosses that hit the first man are a bit of a Navas speciality but this one resulted in a goal thanks to Gary Cahill's moment of madness. Should have set up a second for De Bruyne - 6.

KEVIN DE BRUYNE: The Belgian's crossing prowess caused all sorts of problems for his former club but his failure to find an open goal from four yards was the turning point - 7.

DAVID SILVA: Found space in good areas to trouble the Chelsea back line - 6.

SERGIO AGUERO: No goals for the Argentinian but not for the want of trying. Came closest when Gary Cahill cleared off the line. Blotted his copybook with a rash challenge on David Luiz that saw him red-carded - 6.

YAYA TOURE (for Navas, 76 mins): Could not halt the Chelsea charge - 5.

THIBAUT COURTOIS: Could do nothing about Cahill's own goal and was otherwise solid, producing saves from Aguero and De Bruyne - 7.

CESAR AZPILICUETA: Almost played in Aguero with a poor touch that might have resulted in a red card for Luiz - 5.

GARY CAHILL: Not an afternoon for the England man to remember. Only he will know what he was attempting with his acrobatic own goal. Caught out again by Aguero in the second half but redeemed himself to clear off the line - 4.

DAVID LUIZ: Lucky to get away with his nudge on Aguero but Chelsea's defence ultimately did well to limit City to one goal - 6.

MARCOS ALONSO: A poor back-pass might have been costly from the wide man, who was energetic but peripheral going forward - 5.

CESC FABREGAS: A rare start for the Spaniard and he had been largely anonymous until picking out Diego Costa with a fine long ball for the equaliser - 5.

N'GOLO KANTE: Chelsea's defence were exposed too much. Booked for a scything challenge on Silva - 5.

VICTOR MOSES: Moses was more influential at the back than going forward, twice denying City when a goal looked likely - 6

PEDRO: Struggled to make an impact and was replaced by Willian five minutes into the second half - 5.

EDEN HAZARD: Looked dangerous whenever he drove forward. Might have done better when he rounded Bravo in the first half but a heavy touch took him too wide. Got his goal in the final minute - 7.

DIEGO COSTA: Had been having a poor game until he out-muscled Otamendi and convincingly beat Bravo to score his 14th goal of the season. Then set up Willian for the second - 7.

WILLIAN (for Pedro, 50 mins): Made a real difference when he came on and finished his goal superbly - 7.
