Duplos: (An imitation of the original Lego)

The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.  (Proverbs 11:3)

In the Lego Movie, just before Emmet “wills” himself to die to save the universe, he says to Lucy and his friends in bondage  “See ya later, alligator.”

Just before Yeshua willingly gave up his life, he said to his friends:

“My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come … In my Fathers house are many rooms … I am going there to prepare a place for you … I will come back and take you to be with me…”  (John 13:33, 14:3)

After sacrificing his life, Emmet found himself back in the presence of his father, (The Man Upstairs), looking over his creation (Bricksville) with astonishment asks “What happened? This is a disaster! … All of this before you is your Father’s and everything is thought out, very carefully… “

The Lego Movie, whether intentional or unintentional, is a metaphorical perspective of the three Abrahamic religions and their attempts to overthrow the “sophisticated structure" created by The Man Upstairs, for his own pleasure.

From the Perspective of the Jews: It is still The Fathers world …

Look, you know the rules, this isn’t a toy. You have your stuff near the Christmas decorations! With all those bricks, you can build anything you want …  Now let’s put everything back the way you found it, so I can make things the way they’re supposed to be …” (The Father, in the Lego Movie)

and in their eyes, Christians are like Christmas decorations tossed in the corner of the original creation.

From the perspective of the Christians: The authority of the world has been handed over to the Son (the Special) for being obedient to the point of death on the cross for the propitiation of sin.

And as for the Muslims, they enter the scene at the end of the movie, when the Father says to his son …

Since I let you come down here, guess who else gets to come down … Your Sister!”

This interesting twist comes AFTER the son and the father reconcile, when a large spaceship descends upon the creation and creatures that look somewhat like Legos say … “We’re from the planet Duplo, and we’re here to destroy you!”

Have you ever tried to play with Duplos and Legos?  They may be from the same Creator, but they don’t connect! Legos are small and Duplos are large!

Our world is disconnected. The tiny little piece of land known as Israel has been mysteriously sought to be overthrown since the beginning of time by larger foreign lands. It is no secret that Israel was promised by the Father to the “children of Abraham.”

But identifying the children of Abraham is understandably up for debate since all three religions are from the offspring of Abraham. Isaac and Ishmael, the two sons of Abraham, produced the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve tribal rulers of Islam, respectively. God himself warns us that Ishmael would live in hostility toward all of his brothers. (Genesis 16:12)

Isaac beget twins, Jacob and Esau. Jacob’s daughter Dinah, the sister, was defiled by one of Esau’s men, Shechem, who desired to make Dinah his wife. This was an opportunity for reconciliation between the two brothers; however, Jacob’s sons would not allow this to happen because Shechem had violated their sister, treating her like a prostitute, and so destroyed their land and the people living there. Jacob told his sons that they had brought trouble on him and reminded them that “they are few in number and if the people living in Canaan join forces, they will destroy us.” (Genesis 34:30)

So could the sister be the root cause of the hostility between Israel and it’s surrounding brothers? Family quarrels are often passed down from generations, as are family traditions, without independent rationale and room for change.

From Abraham’s seed also came the Special, the master builder, the only one who conquered death.

We have been forewarned: one is coming - who will descend upon us as the “counterfeit” messiah – one who appears to have conquered death, but is “not connected” to the true faith, whose duplicity will destroy us if we do not open our eyes and recognize him. Many did not recognize the true messiah when he came into the world 2,000+ years ago and many will not recognize him when he returns. But more will not recognize the false prophet as being counterfeit, if they have never known the real thing.

“See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into the flame and forges a weapon fit for its work And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc; no weapon forged against you will prevail and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me.” (Isaiah 54:16-17)

I believe the reconciliation of Jews and Christians (the Father and the Son) must ensue in order for the legitimate children of Abraham to resist the deceiver and defend the promised land of Israel.

“We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.”  (Hebrews 6:12)
