Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani on Friday met US Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of the second edition of the Mediterranean Dialogues Conference, currently underway in Rome.
The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, means of boosting them in addition to a set of regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The two sides exchanged points of view on the latest developments in Syria, particularly the situation in Aleppo, and the deteriorating humanitarian conflict as the regime continues to bomb civilians.
They also touched on ways of protecting civilians and finding a political solution to the crisis.
The foreign minister reiterated Qatar's commitment to supporting the Syrian people in the struggle to achieve their ambitions and aspirations. He also stressed Qatar's keenness on contributing to the efforts to provide assistance for Syrian refugees and alleviate their suffering.
The foreign minister also met with Italy's Minister of Defence Roberta Pinotti and British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Thursday on the sidelines of the conference.
