Chandigarh MC polls: Harjinder Kaur challenges rejection of her nomination papers

Harjinder Kaur, two-time former mayor of Chandigarh and Shiromani Akali Dal’s nominee from ward no. 15 for the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections, has approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court challenging the cancellation of her nomination on November 30.

Although her counsel made a mention on Friday before a division bench comprising Justices S S Saron and Lisa Gill for hearing the case on Friday itself, the court directed him to file petition in the High Court registry so that it could come up for hearing in Saturday’s list of cases.

The returning officer had rejected Kaur’s nomination form stating it to be incomplete. Kaur’s covering candidate is Balwinder Kaur, who belongs to BJP.
