NEW DELHI: A court on Friday granted bail to retired colonel
Ajay Ahlawat, accused in an alleged
human trafficking case.
Additional Sessions Judge Ajay Kumar Jain granted bail to Ahlawat on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and a surety bond. The court observed that he had been in custody since November 10, 2016 and “nothing new had surfaced”.
Arguing for bail, Ahlawat’s lawyer
Pradeep Rana argued that the “main accused” in the case, P N Sanyal, had already been granted bail and that the complainant had not opposed Sanyal’s plea.
Calling Ahlawat the “kingpin”, Additional Public Prosecutor Ashok Kumar opposed the bail application arguing that he had influenced the complainant.
