MUMBAI: The parents of
Versova engineer
Hamid Ansari are in Amritsar to accost Pakistan’s foreign policy advisor
Sartaj Aziz when he arrives for a conference on Saturday. Fauzia and
Nehal Ansari will display placards, urging Aziz to free their son Hamid, who is imprisoned in Peshawar for having crossed over illegally in November 2012.
Hamid’s parents reached Amritsar on Friday after a 40-hour train journey.
“I will find out where
Aziz Sahab is staying, and hold a placard asking him to help free my son. Hamid had gone to Pakistan for love not hatred,” Fauzia said. She said the bitterness between India and Pakistan has affected his chances of freedom.
