Chandigarh Starts Ambulance Service For Animals, Sets An Example For The Whole Country

Chandigarh Starts Ambulance Service For Animals

Of late, we have been coming across a lot of brutal instances of animal abuse and cruelty, where some animals were subjected to mutilation and some were thrown from the terrace by people for their sadistic pleasures. Who can forget the agony of the poor monkey who was tortured and killed by medical students in Tamil Nadu? The gruesome pictures still leave us disgusted.

This isn’t anything new, earlier a man in Hyderabad was arrested for killing a dog and raping her carcass. While on one hand, some people are subjecting cruelty, there are some organizations that are turning out to be a messiah for these poor souls. One such organization is The Department of Animal Husbandry in Chandigarh, which has started a facility to provide ambulance service for small and pet animals. The ambulance will cater to the transportation of injured and sick animals for treatment at the Government Veterinary Hospitals nearby that were introduced under MPLAD Scheme.

An official statement said, “This state of the art ambulance will operate at a nominal fare of Rs. 300 per-to-and-fro trip – from the house of caller to nearest hospital and return.” The ambulance is equipped with first aid and emergency medication and will be given under the supervision of Para-Veterinary staff,” it further mentioned. All you will have to do is call for an ambulance, they will reach at your doorstep, take your pet to the nearest government veterinary hospital and post the treatment they will drop them back at your house. This is a great initiative and we hope that other cities and states will take lessons from Chandigarh to help the animals.
