Show cause notice served to Gujarat University's Sanskrit department HOD, professor
AHMEDABAD: Around two months after Gujarat University ordered an inquiry over allegations against the head of the department (HOD) and a female professor of the Sanskrit department, the inquiry committee has submitted its report. A show-cause notice has been issued to the two senior faculty members by the inquiry committee on Friday. While the female professor, Gauri Panikar (name changed), was accused for forging the signature of GU vice chancellor, MN Patel, the HOD, Kalpit Mishra (name changed), and allegedly conducted an examination for students without seeking university nod.

Sources said that Panikar forged the VC’s signature on the certificates of an event conducted by their department, which were issued for participants of the event. On the other hand, Mishra allegedly conducted a re-test for the external examination, because the answer sheets of the actual examination conducted by the varsity went missing after they were given for further assessment. GU appointed an inquiry committee to probe the allegations.
The duo is required to file an official response to the notice within three days, stating legitimate reasons for their action and why the university should not initiate strict actions against them.
