On loan Celtic winger Patrick Roberts is determined to take his opportunity if selected in the absence of Scott Sinclair.

The 19-year-old Manchester City forward had been in impressive form either side of the summer break before he suffered a hamstring injury against Lincoln Red Imps in the Champions League qualifier in July.

Roberts has struggled to get a regular run in the team since then with James Forrest and Sinclair both performing particularly well on either flank.

Sinclair is sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring problem though and Roberts, who started last weekend's 3-0 victory over Aberdeen in the League Cup final, is hoping to help Celtic extend their unbeaten domestic run this season.

And while Roberts concedes he has been frustrated watching from the bench, he stressed the team comes first.

"It is a massive squad, a collective. Obviously Scotty was injured and I just try to play my best every time I get the opportunity," Roberts said.

"It can be [frustrating]. I was playing in every game towards the back end of last season and was doing well and scoring goals. It was enjoyable.

"Now obviously I am not getting much game time this year but it is all about the team and when I play I have to do the best I can for the team.

"Of course it is all about playing games but it is also about the best for the team.

"The manager picks the team at the end of the day so I have to stick in there and when you get the chance to play, play as well as you can."

Celtic end their Champions League campaign with a trip to Manchester City on Tuesday night with the Group C places now decided.

Barcelona and City stay in the competition, while Borussia Monchengladbach have pipped Celtic to the Europa League place.

And Roberts is looking forward to his return to the Etihad Stadium, where Celtic will be hoping to produce a similar performance to that which earned then a 3-3 draw in the corresponding fixture in Glasgow.

Roberts said: "It will be good to go back. If given the opportunity I will relish it. We got a good result at Celtic Park.

"It has been a disappointing campaign but you have to put it down to tough teams, Barcelona, City and Monchengladbach.

"It has been a tough test but one everyone in the squad has learned from and will take it to further their career.

"We will finish it as strong as we can."
