An 86-year-old man in Namutumba District has died following a fire accident in which his house was burnt in the wee hours of Friday.
Busoga East Police spokesperson, Mr James Mubi, identified the deceased as Vincent Waiswa, a resident of Kiwani village, Magada Sub County in Namutumba District.
He attributed the cause of fire to a charcoal stove that was left burning at night yet the old man was sleeping alone in the house.

“ The charcoal stove was left burning. It was next to the sack of charcoal and this caused the fire to spread up to one of the room he was sleeping in yet he was on two mattresses and a net,’’ Mr Mubi said.
He said by the time they reached the scene, the man was burnt beyond recognition and they just broke the room to pull out his body.
By press time, the body was taken to Nakavule Hospital in Iganga for post-mortem.
