Island focus: C. Sulawesi offered to co-manage Tambing

L

ore Lindu National Park (BTNLL) authorities have offered the Central Sulawesi provincial administration the opportunity to jointly manage Lake Tambing recreation area in Lore Utara district, Poso regency.

The provincial administration could collaborate with the BTNLL to manage Lake Tambing, but could not do it alone as it is located within the national park, BTNLL head Sudayatna said.

Lake Tambing is located 1,700 meters above sea level and has become an increasingly popular recreation spot.

BTNLL data show that over the last three years the number of people visiting the lake had increased. In 2014, some 3,000 people visited the lake, but the figure doubled in 2015. As of August this year, 13,000 people had visited.

The head of Central Sulawesi Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sitti Norma Mardjanu, said the province had at least three popular tourist destinations, namely Togean Island in Tojo Una Una regency, Tanjung Karang in Donggala regency and Lake Tambing.
