Bengaluru, Dec 2: Former India captain and batting legend Rahul Dravid has revealed the "greatest fast bowler" he faced during his international career.
Kohli is 'absolutely sensational': Dravid
The 43-year-old Dravid, who played 164 Tests for India and was among the best batsmen in the world, has picked Australia's Glenn McGrath as the "greatest" pace bowler of his time. McGrath featured in 124 Tests and claimed 563 wickets.
"They (Australia) were the best cricket team in my generation. Amongst them all, the greatest bowler that I played against, not only the greatest Australian bowler, but the greatest fast bowler (that) I played against has to be Glenn McGrath," Dravid said at an event in Mumbai on Thursday (December 1).
"He (McGrath) was absolutely (brilliant), no one challenged my knowledge of the off-stump as much as McGrath did. He was relentless and gave you nothing. A lot of times, whether he is bowling in first hour of the morning or late in the afternoon of in the evening, he (McGrath) was going to give you nothing, he was relentless (and the) accuracy," Dravid was quoted as saying by Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency.
Dravid faced McGrath many times in his career. In a Test in October 2004, at his home ground - Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Dravid was bowled for a 9-ball duck by McGrath. In the same match, Michael Clarke made his Test debut. Australia won by 217 runs.
