Jayati Bhatia: Feroz Shah Road and Mandi House are very close to me

Jayati Bhatia, who is known for playing Mataji in 'Sasural Simar Ka', was in the capital recently for the sangeet ceremony of her on-screen son, Dheeraj Dhoopar and to act in a theatre production in Gurgaon. While talking to us, she reminisced the olden days that she spent in the capital and places that she just can’t give a miss when ever she visits the city. “I used to stay in Karol Bagh, and I have completed my schooling from Cambridge school, Srinivaspuri.When I think of Delhi, I always think of the beautiful memories of my school and my acting school, Shri Ram Centre,” she shared.

Talking about what she loves to eat in the city, she added, “The first thing that I ate after reaching Delhi was gobhi ke paranthe. I love Nirula’s hot chocolate, jaise log teerath pe jate hain, vaise woh mera teerath hai. Mujhe India Gate drive karne jana bohut pasand hai. Other than this, my favourite hangout places in Delhi have always been Mandi House where I used to have my dance classes at Shriram Bharatiya Kala Kendra. There, I learnt Odissi for 17 years. Since I grew up here, I also learnt acting from Shri Ram Centre and Russian from the Russian Centre of Science and Culture at Feroz Shah Road. All these places – Copernicus Marg, Feroz Shah Road and Mandi House are very close to my heart.”
