NMC to hold graffiti painting contest on Dec 18

Nagpur: As part of its smart city plan, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation is going to orgnaize a competition on wall painting stretching over 40km across the city on December 18. The cops have assured that no walls of the city will be damaged in the event of the competition.
Announcing this, mayor Pravin Datke said the competition will be organized in two categories — one for college students and another will be open for all (citizens).
CISFA, Institute of Indian Interior Designers, Haldiram, Nagpur Residential Hotels Association and Credai will be associate partners of the event, which will be held on December 18 as part of NMC’s four-day Nagpur Mahotsav commencing on December 16, said municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar.
Topics for the graffiti will be Swachh Bharat, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Digital Nagpur, Smart City Nagpur, Happy Nagpur, Clean and Green Nagpur, Save Water and Sustainable Nagpur. Volunteers from Green Vigil Foundation, Hislop College and I-Clean to help the NMC during the contest.
So far the NMC has selected 17 streets in four zones where the competition will be organized. The NMC will give away five cash prizes including two consolation prizes. The participation forms will be accepted at NMC’s zone offices and headquarters, said Hardikar.
As the size of the each graffiti wall will be 2 mtrs height and 5 mtrs width, the NMC expects at least four members in a single team and will get is six hours to complete the painting.
Traffic beautification competition of islands will be held.Urban planners and architects can participate and a prize of Rs 10,000 will be presented in this category.
