According to a well-informed source, Tullow is said to have begun scouting the market for a rig to drill the Araku wildcat in Block 54 in the second half of 2017.

The source added Tullow will require a semi-submersible rig or drillship to spud Araku, given the water depth on the block exceeds jack-up capabilities. Tullow recently completed a drop core survey in the Guyana-Suriname basin by gathering seabed sediment samples in blocks 47 and 54 with the research vessel Proteus.
