The department of animal husbandry has started a facility to provide ambulance service for small and pet animals from Thursday. Officials said the ambulance will help to the needs of transportation of sick & injured animals for treatment to nearby Government Veterinary Hospitals, which is started under MPLAD Scheme.
“This state of the art ambulance will operate at a nominal fare of Rs 300 per to-and-fro trip – from the house of caller to nearest hospital and return. The ambulance is equipped with first aid and emergency medication and will be given under the supervision of Para-Veterinary staff,” said an official statement. It further said the ambulance will reach the doorstep of sick animal, take it to the nearest government veterinary hospital and even drop it back at the owner’s house after treatment.
