‘Being in a male dominated working environment has always been challenging, but I never see myself as above or below them.’

Gt out of the shell and do something for yourself, graduate, Meredani Rokorua, urged women yesterday.

The 39-year-old employee of the Fiji Sugar Corporation in Labasa was the only female among 37 graduates at the Friendly North Inn in Labasa yesterday.

She graduated with Certificate IV in Project Management Practice.

“Being in a male dominated working environment has always been challenging, but I never see myself as above or below them,” Ms Rokorua said.

“I see myself equally capable as them, but aspire to do much better.

“I had been working at FSC since 2006 and my current position is network system support analyst.

“Although I am working, I am currently pursing Diploma in Leadership, Governance and Human Rights at the University of the South Pacific Labasa campus.

“My aim is to work as a consultant in one of the non-government organisations because I like to talk to people and provide counselling,” the second youngest of five siblings originally from Tailevu said.

“I believe a woman can achieve whatever she wants in her life only if she comes out of the shell.

“Women deserve to live their dream and choose what they want to do in life.”

“Graduating from APTC is an honour and being the only female graduate is a proud moment for me,” Ms Rokorua said.

“I want to thank the Lord for his mercy and grace upon my life.”
