GHAZIABAD: A private company staffer was robbed of Rs 4.5 lakh outside a bank in Rajnagar area on Thursday. The victim, 20-year-old Dimpy Verma, had gone to deposit the amount in the bank when the crime took place.
“My nephew Dimpy works in my company as a collection agent and like every day he had gone to deposit the previous day’s collections in ICICI Bank,” said Bablu Singh, owner Moneygram Transaction Company.
“The bank staffers these days hand over deposit slip from outside and Dimpy was filling the deposit form just outside the bank when two men approached him. They requested him to help them deposit their money which Dimpy refused,” said Bablu. “The men kept on persuading and started following him,” said Bablu. The men suddenly snatched his bag containing cash and escaped in a Swift Dzire car parked nearby. “We are scanning CCTV footage from bank and nearby shops,” said Awdesh Yadav, SHO, Kavinagar police station.
