In a major drive against the use of polythene carry bags in the Patnitop area, a joint team of officials of the Forest Protection Force and the Pollution Control Board conducted raids and seized approximately 30 kg of polythene bags from shopkeepers at Kud and Patnitop today.
The joint team sensitised hoteliers and shopkeepers against the use of this non-bio degradable material which was hazardous to the environment. The hoteliers were advised not to dispose of non-biodegradable solid wastes in the open and in forest areas. Some of the shopkeepers were also challaned during the exercise. The joint team consisted of Jogeet Bakshi, Sudesh Kumar, Mohd Rafiq, Narayana and other forest officials.
