Shame campaign vs false gods

We salute John Nery for calling a spade a spade.  His Nov. 15 column, “The unfortunate Justice Peralta” described Associate Justice Diosdado Peralta’s majority decision to allow the remains of former president Ferdinand Marcos to be buried in the Libingan ng mga Bayani as “badly written, ill-thought-through and deliberately obtuse.”

What can the people do about that ridiculous judgment of the Supreme Court which virtually made those who dared to stand in front of machine guns and cannons sent by Marcos to Edsa in 1986 now look like fools?

President Duterte has always been friendly to the Marcoses and he now controls both houses of Congress. Impeachment against the nine justices who defied history and shamelessly paid tribute to the Marcoses is hoping against hope. Mass action by the people is the only option left.

Let us all heed gutsy Nery’s call to action (“Why we must protest,” Opinion, 11/22/16) and start the shame campaign against those false gods in Padre Faura who think they are infallible even in the face of their preposterous mistakes.

Let us act NOW before those Marcos-friendly justices insult us again with another ruling in favor of the dictator’s son, Bongbong, who is moving heaven and earth to have himself declared vice president in his electoral protest  now pending in the Supreme Court, aka Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET). Given Mr. Duterte’s incorrigibly reckless ways of governance, many no longer expect him to last six years. So, guess who is itching to take his place in Malacañang?

Something smells fishy already. The burial issue may just be a trial balloon.  And having gotten away with it, who knows what those same justices, who indisputably control the PET, are cooking up next?
