Dehradun: Students of nursing in a Chander Nagar college went on mass protest on Thursday after a teacher resigned. Students alleged that the college discriminated against him and he resigned under pressure on November 27. Students of general nursing and midwifery (GNM) and auxiliary nurse midwives (ANM) at State College of Nursing boycotted classes since morning and protested in college premises.
“He is one of the finest teachers we have in our college.
He was being harassed by the principal for seeking additional information pertaining to college works through RTI and he was also being forced to allow admission to ineligible candidates,” said Vishal Choudhury, a member of student nursing association.
The teacher, who had resigned, visited the college and tried to pacify the students and teachers but they continued their protest.
Meanwhile, another teacher from the college alleged that she was also subjected to mental torture by college administration. The principal of the college said that the allegations were baseless. “He wanted to resign last year also, but this year he directly went to the director and submitted his letter.”
