Nas leads the lineup featured in the second talent announcement for the eighth annual California Roots Music and Art Festival. Also among the latest round of performers are SOJA, Iration, Stick Figure, Nahko and Medicine for the People and Yellowman. The festival will take place May 26-28, 2017 (10 a.m.-11 p.m.) at the Monterey County Fair and Event Center in Monterey, Calif.
Presenting both established and up-and-coming performers from the realms of hip-hop, reggae, rock and roots, California Roots is expanding its international reach with the addition of New Zealand-based group Six60. Acts comprising the festival’s initial talent announcement include Dirty Heads, Jurassic 5, Common Kings and Anthony B.
Notes festival co-producer Dan Sheehan in a statement, “Adding Nas, one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time, is an honor and shows how Cali Roots spans genres all rooted in one vibe.”

California Roots will launch its third artist rollout on January 10, 2017. Details regarding tickets are available at http://californiarootsfestival.com/tickets. The festival also introduced a special “Redwood Pass” in partnership with the Redwood Forest Foundation. Each pass secured the planting of two redwood trees. Since sold out, the limited Redwood Pass has resulted in the planting of 800 new redwoods.
