Amazon India launches e-books in 5 regional languages on Kindle Book Store

Amazon has announced the addition of thousands of digital books in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati and Malayalam to the Kindle Book Store

Amazon has announced the addition of thousands of digital books in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati and Malayalam, including the largest digital selection of best sellers, hundreds of exclusive titles, and free classics to its Kindle Book Store. Readers will now be able to access these books on their Kindle eReaders and free Kindle apps for Android and iOS.

The thousands of new books added in five Indian languages comes in addition to the over three million books that are already available on the Kindle Book Store.

“We are excited to offer readers the largest digital selection of best sellers in five Indian languages. All you need is an Android or iOS device, or a Kindle eReader to get started. This is another step in our ongoing work to provide more choice and selection to Indian readers,” said Rajiv Mehta, Kindle India Country Manager.

Here are some of the book titles for these languages that have been added to the Kindle Book Store, “Ishq Mein Shahar Hona” by Ravish Kumar and “Theek Tumhare Peechhe” by Manav Kaul (Hindi), “Rajaraja Chozhan” by Sa. Na. Kannan, and “Vantharkal Ventrarkal” by Madhan (Tamil), “Mrutyunjay” by Shivaji Sawant and“Yayati” by Vishnu Sakharam Khandekar (Marathi), “Ek Bija Ne Gamta Rahiye” by Kaajal Oza Vaidya and “Bhagvan Ni Tapal” by Gunvant Shah (Gujarati), “Aarachar” by K R Meera and “Ente Katha” by Madhavakutty/Kamala Das (Malayalam).

Festive offer

The selection of books also include translations of globally popular titles like “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne, “The Monk who sold his Ferrari” by Robin Sharma and contemporary best sellers like “The Secret of Nagas” by Amish Tripathi. Free classics like “Godan” by Munshi Premchand, “Parthiban Kanavu” by Kalki Krishnamurthy, “Deshbandhu Das” by Sane Guruji, “Thag” by Ramanlal Vasantlal Desai and “Chandalabhikshuki” by N. Kumaran Asan are also available.

Amazon has also added hundreds of Indian language titles to Kindle Unlimited, the subscription service that allows customers to freely read as much as they want from over one million Kindle books.
