Ranbir Kapoor is all set to play Sanjay Dutt in the latter’s biopic directed by Rajkumar Hirani. While Ranbir’s fans are excited about this news and Sanju Baba’s fans may not have any problems with this casting, Sanjay himself is quite surprised! He voiced his opinion about Ranbir playing him on reel at a recent private party at his residence. As per a report in DNA, Ranbir Kapoor, Rajkumar Hirani and David Dhawan were partying at Sanjay Dutt’s residence recently. Dutt, under the influence of alcohol, told Ranbir that he wants to produce a film starring him in the lead. An exited RK was all ears to know about Munnabhai’s plans about this project when pat came the next revelation, “The film is called Laddoo.” That left the Barfi star a little confused and while he was just trying to decide how to react to this, Sanjay announced, “Yes, after that we will make films called Imarti, Jalebi and then Peda.”

The report further states that a silence followed and then Baba continued, “I watched Barfi! on TV recently. What made you do a film like that? @#$^&* bloody hell, you are playing me in the Sanjay Dutt biopic. I don’t know how they cast you.” You would be mistaken to think that Sanjay Dutt left the conversation at that. He had some solid advice for the young Kapoor lad who was last in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Sanjay lamented, “You should be a macho man. Act in macho films. You can’t be doing films like Barfi! You should be holding guns and doing action films. Do you think actors like me, Salman and Ajay would have been around for so many years, if we had not played macho characters on screen? You have no connect with the masses and that is very important.”

In that drunken state, he further lectured Ranbir on the kind of films he should do and the one she should stay away from. Dutt went on to lecture Kapoor for a long time about the kind of films he should do. Respecting his seniority, Ranbir deemed it best to not argue. The tension in the room was broken when Mrs. Dutt, Manaayata invited everyone to a dinner of biryani. (ALSO READ: WHAT! Exes Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are back together?)

While Sanjay Dutt’s drunken banter might seem rude to many, here’s why we think it completely makes sense.
Ranbir Kapoor, the man who awed us all with his performance in Rocket Singh, Rockstar, Barfi, Rajneeti has failed to have the same impact on us with his recent releases. If you remember, recently Salman Khan made news for taking a dig at Ranbir’s career on Bigg Boss season 10. His comment, “Ranbir toh gayab ho he rahe hain,” was a direct hint towards his unsuccessful stint at the box office. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that Sanjay Dutt had some concerns about Ranbir Kapoor’s career.

Action films and action heroes do have a mass following in India. Be it Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar or Ajay Devgan, while these stars have tried their hand at genres like romance and comedy, they have kept coming back to action films. And so it would be nice for Ranbir to work on Sanjay’s advice and try it too. We recently heard that Ranbir Kapoor has been training under a fitness expert for his upcoming film Dragon, directed by Ayan Mukherjee. The Bombay Velvet star will be seen playing a superhero in the film and is preparing himself to look the part. Now, with that it would be easier for him to play ‘macho roles’.

It is certain that Ranbir Kapoor needs to shake things up. It can be recalled that his father Rishi Kapoor, the much loved yesteryear star, had hit a plateau despite being such a talented actor. In his interviews in recent times, he has blamed it on the wrong choice of movies and getting stereotyped in the chocolate boy, romantic hero image. It is only now that we are getting to witness the versatility of this amazing actor with films like Agneepath (Rauf Laila), Kapoor & Sons (the young and naughty at heart Grandfather) and Student of the Year (Gay principal).

We hope Ranbir gets some sound advice from the stalwart at home and also takes what Sanjay Dutt said seriously to up his game. What do you think? Let us know.
