SC’s National Anthem verdict: Why just cinema theatres, why not Parliament, ask Bollywood celebs

Shekhar Kapur said the same rule should be applied on Parliament sessions as even they are nothing less dramatic than a film. Shekhar wrote, “Hope Supreme Court orders Indian Parliament to sing our Nation Anthem before each session. Often its drama too is movie like.”

Filmmaker Shirish Kunder, choreographer and director Farah Khan’s husband, asked what will happen if someone disrespects the National Anthem, “This is just half the order. What’s the punishment if someone doesn’t stand for the National Anthem? Shoot-at-sight? Lynch? Jail? Hanging?”

Hinting at the decision to be politically motivated, Shirish said, “Just like Gau Rakshaks, will now emerge another cult: Rashtra Gaan Rakshaks. National Anthem ruling is a good initiative towards patriotism. The movie BORDER should also be compulsory before every movie screening.”
