Yuvraj Singh wedding photos: Cricketing icon Yuvi and Hazel Keech exchanged vows yesterday after a year-long engagement. The event took place at the dera of Baba Ram Singh Ganduan Wale in Fatehgarh Sahib, about 40 kms away from the cricketer’s hometown of Chandigarh. The couple had gone through the Anand Karaj Sikh wedding ceremony yesterday, and will also have a Hindu wedding in Goa on December 2. The wedding venue, which was decked out with strings of green and yellow flowers, was chosen by Yuvi’s mother Shabnam Singh. While it was a low-key ceremony with only close friends and family being invited, there were stringent security arrangements made near the Dera. The celebrations continued late into the night on Wednesday.
Dressed to match, the newlyweds wore maroon-and-gold attire. Yuvraj wore a velvet sherwani paired with a maroon turban. Hazel looked stunning in a wine-red lehenga with heavy golden embroidery and an embroidered dupatta. Absent from the wedding was Yuvi’s father Yograj Singh. The latter reportedly refused to attend on account of the wedding being overseen by a Dera leader, saying, “He believes in god, not religious leaders.” Yograj and Yuvi’s mother had separated a long time ago and the cricketer was brought up by his mother.
According to the Indian Express, Hazel’s parents did make it to their daughter’s wedding. Her father wore a sea-green kurta with a white chudiar and her mother was dressed in a plain beige kurta and a turquoise dupatta. The couple had a grand pre-wedding bash on November 29 with the mehendi session, sangeet and cocktails party taking place the same day.
The wedding was coincidentally timed very well to ensure that the Indian cricket team players could attend it. The last Test between India and England was played in Mohali and it ended well in time to allow the cricketers to take a welcome break and indulge in a bit of welcome recreation with their good friend Yuvraj on his special day.
As expected, Team India skipper Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and other players were seen having a gala time at the wedding. However, MS Dhoni was not seen there. Dhoni is the man (as the team captain) who benefited the most from the explosive Yuvraj batting.
