JAIPUR: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped, gangraped and trafficked by eight men to different locations in Rajasthan's Churu district between November 22 and 28. Later, when she was finally able to break free and return home, her husband was so shocked on hearing her ordeal that he tried to end his life on Tuesday.
According to Sardar Sahar circle officer Rajendra Prasad, the survivor came to the police station on Tuesday at 3.30 pm and narrated her nightmare.

On November 22, she was waiting for a bus at the Asal Kheri bus stand when three men in a jeep offered her a ride till Bhaleri town.
“The woman sat in the jeep along with the trio, identified as Kalyan Singh, Raju Singh and Hariram,“ Prasad said. On the way , the three men suddenly veered off the route towards a secluded place where she was confined in a hut and raped multiple times.
After two days, they took the woman to Simla village in Churu where they allegedly sold her to four men for Rs 1 lakh. The four men identified by the woman are Raju Ram, Mahaveer, Sandeep and Girdhari.
“The woman was locked up at an unidentified place in Simla where the four raped her for three days. The woman made several attempts to escape but failed,“ Prasad added. The nightmare for the mother of the two continued as the four accused tried to force her to marry one Lila Ram of the same village.“The four accused told her they had sold her to Lila Ram for Rs 1 lakh and that she should live with him. Here, too, she was subjected to regular sexual abuse,“ police said.

On November 28, a member of the woman's family lodged a complaint at Bhaleri police station. On the same day the woman escaped from Lila Ram's house with the help of an elderly man. On Tuesday, police took the woman to her house where she narrated her ordeal to her husband.
“The grief-stricken husband couldn't bear the plight of his wife and attempted suicide, but he was rushed to hospital where his condition is said to be out of danger,“ police said.
Following the directions of the district SP, Bharat Rahul Manhardan, three teams have been set up to catch the culprits. “Our teams have collected important clues and we are hopeful of making a major breakthrough very soon,“ police said.
