Osaka, November 7, 2016-Hitachi Zosen Corporation (TYO:7004) has announced that a consortium it represents received an order for the construction and operation of a new combustible-waste treatment plant for the Asakawa River Environment Association (Administrator: Fuyuhiko Otsubo, Hino Mayor), formed by the cities of Hino, Kokubunji, and Koganei, in western Tokyo.

■ Order background and outline
The three cities currently treat combustible waste separately, Hino and Kokubunji with aging incinerators in operation for more than 25 years since their completion, and Koganei, having shut down its own aging facility, at another in the neighboring Tama area under an outsourcing contract since 2007. Against this backdrop, the cities decided to join hands and set up the new plant.
The project will be implemented a design-build-operate (DBO) scheme. Construction work will be undertaken by a joint venture formed by Hitachi Zosen and Penta-Ocean Construction Co., Ltd., and operation of the completed facility by Asakawa Environment Technology Co., Ltd., a special purpose company represented by Hitachi Zosen and comprising Penta-Ocean Construction and Hitz Environment Service Co., Ltd.
