LAHORE: British House of Lords Member Lord Nazir Ahmad has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif does not have the ability to make decisions, which is why he has too many ‘elderly’ advisers with him. Addressing the participants of a seminar at the Punjab University on Monday, he said that Kashmiris should be saved from Fazlur Rahman, “who is damaging the Kashmir cause”. He said that PM Nawaz Sharif was the man “who offers Friday prayers on Sundays”. He said he felt disappointed after listening to speeches of Pakistani politicians. “The government has made a wrong decision by appointing Fazlur Rahman chairman of the Parliamentary Special Committee on Kashmir,” he said, adding that Kashmiris should be saved from him. He observed that India could only dream of surgical strikes, as they “don’t have the capability” of doing so. Lord Nazir said that Pakistan should support the Khalistan movement, which is a freedom movement run by the Sikh community. “If Sikhs succeed in creating Khalistan then Kashmiri people will also get freedom,” he said. Lord Nazir Ahmad spent a busy day in Lahore. He met former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat and addressed a press conference at the Lahore Press Club. While talking to Chaudhry Shujaat, he said that the PML-N had done no worth-mentioning work for Kashmir. Instead of giving a befitting response to the Indian aggression, the prime minister is making foreign trips and enjoying [life] abroad.” He said that the premier should have met the bereaved families of our Pakistani brethren martyred as a result of Indian shelling and offered solace.
