BANGALURU: From the next academic year, children studying in more than 75,000 Karnataka schools following the state syllabus will be on a par with their CBSE counterparts.
The textbook revision committee, headed by professor and writer Baraguru Ramachandrappa, will present the upgraded textbooks to the government next week. Seeing gaps in learning abilities among students of Karnataka state board schools, the government set up a committee to suggest measures to bring the state syllabus up to speed with the CBSE.
The govern ment said the exercise has been carried out without diluting the flavour of local culture in state textbooks.
The committee analyzed CBSE and state books for Classes 6 to 10 in each subject and found that state books were good in many areas and were upgraded to CBSE where the latter's curriculum was more relevant.
