Sudhir Shrivastava named home secretary
Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday made changes in the senior-level bureaucracy.
MUMBAI: A week before the winter session of the state legislature begins, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday made changes in the senior-level bureaucracy.
Additional chief secretary (transport) Sudhir Shrivastava, an IAS officer of the 1983 batch, will be the new additional chief secretary (home) in place of K P Bakshi, who retired on Wednesday. The names of metropolitan commissioner UPS Madan and ACS (medical education department) Medha Gadgil and Sunil Porwar (planning) were also in the zone of consideration, however, CM appointed Shrivastava, a Nagpur-based bureaucrat.

Additional chief secretary (women and child development) Sanjay Kumar will be the new ACS (Housing) in place of Shrikant Singh, who will replace ACS (appeals and security) Vijay Satbir Singh, an IAS officer of the 1984 batch. A doctor-turned bureaucrat, Singh will take over the reins of the public health department from Sujata Saunik, who has been shifted to the finance department. State Cotton Growers and Marketing Federation managing director Manoj Saunik will be the new transport and ports secretary in place of Sudhir Shrivastava.
Finance secretary (reforms) Meeta Rajiv Lochan has been appointed as project director (RUSA), while Manisha Verma will now head the women and child development in place of Sanjay Kumar. Indra Mallo will take over as managing director, Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal, while Nawin Sona has been appointed as MD of Cotton Growers and Marketing Federation.
While several retired bureaucrats were lobbying for the post of electricity regulatory commission head, CM decided to choose a retired High Court judge for the post that's been vacant for more than a year. Former transport secretary Gautam Chaterjee has been appointed as OSD to CM for urban development related issues.
