NAGPUR: The NMC’s standing committee on Wednesday gave its nod to the hot mix plant’s proposal to hire a Jet patcher for repairing potholes. The NMC will hire the Ajni Logistics jet patcher for next two years and will pay the firm Rs7.61 crore.
The civic administration tabled another nine other proposals including payment of Rs63.01 lakh to MSRDC for widening of IRDP road between Craddock Road between Golibar square and Marwadi square at Itwari in Central Nagpur.

This patch of the road was selected by the state government under IRDP in 2001 along with 57 other roads. Though IRDP nodal agency Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) completed several works till 2003, it left out widening of Craddock road.
In 2007, following demand from local residents, NMC pressed for Craddock Road widening with MSRDC. Subsequently, MSRDC appointed private contractor Phoenix Engineering to execute the work. MSRDC was to pay for the work from IRDP funds. As per work order issued in June 2007, the work was to be completed in six months but got delayed and completed in December 2009. The delay also increased the project cost but at Rs63.01 lakh more than estimated cost. However, NMC and MSRDC were at loggerheads about who should bear it. As the contractor approached the High Court, which issued order against NMC to pay the bear the cost. The public works department submitted the proposal before the standing panel and it subsequently gave its nod to pay the cost to the private contractor through MSRDC.
Other proposals which got the panel’s nod included Rs40.70 lakh proposal development of a garden in Kukreja Nagar, Rs31.69 lakh strengthening of street lights in Lakadganj area, road tarring works in Chitnavis Nagar and road concretization of Rs26.51 lakh in Mominpura area.
