Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal leaves for Hornbill Fest

Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has left for Kohima to attend the Hornbill Festival 2016, which will be off to a colourful start on Thursday at Nagaland's historic Kisama village.

DISPUR: Chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has left for Kohima to attend the Hornbill Festival 2016, which will be off to a colourful start on Thursday at Nagaland's historic Kisama village.
State agriculture minister Atul Bora, water resources minister Keshav Mahanta, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa and several other MLAs will also be attending the inaugural ceremony.
Sonowal was invited to the festival by Nagaland chief minister TR Zeliang when the two had met for a discussion at the Kaziranga Convention Hall on October 17.

A 28-member cultural troupe from Assam will be performing at the Hornbill Festival.
The Hornbill Festival, organized by the department of tourism and cultural affairs, government of Nagaland, has earned international recognition over the years since its inception in 2000. Domestic and foreign tourists throng the Kisama village to be part of the mega cultural event of the northeast.
