BJP spokesperson Munna Singh Chauhan today lambasted Chief Minister Harish Rawat for unleashing financial anarchy in the state.

“The state government has taken a loan of Rs 1,500 crore for paying the interest on its borrowings, yet the Chief Minister has not stopped from making announcements. He is making a fool of our people,” said Chauhan at a press conference.

Chauhan said, “The officers who are following his diktats are liable to be punished. There is procurement book and financial handbook to guide the officers, which clearly states that at least 40 per cent of the finances should be in hand before going for tenders and quotations.”

He further said the state finances were in bad shape and cited the example of the PWD that had prepared an estimate of Rs 1044.57 crore for carrying out works in this financial year. With no money in hand, the government was forced to make a financial arrangement of Rs 82 lakh, charged Munna Singh Chauhan.

He warned the Chief Minister not to take people for a ride. “All Chief Minister’s announcements are fake and also the so called development works that he is claiming to have initiated,” said Chauhan.
