NURPUR: Following the court direction, the Jawali police registered a dowry harassment case against in-laws, residents of Khabbal village, and husband Vinod Kumar of a woman, Nisha Devi, here today.

Following the court direction, the Jawali police registered a dowry harassment case against in-laws, residents of Khabbal village, and husband Vinod Kumar of a woman, Nisha Devi, here today.

As per information, the complainant had filed a petition in the Jawali court under Section 156(3) of the CrPC and pleaded for registering an FIR against the in-laws. She alleged that she had been married to Vinod Kumar on November 23 last year and her husband and in-laws had been harassing her for bringing dowry from her parents.

In this connection, the Jawali DSP said following the court order, the police had registered a case under Sections 498-A, 406 and 34 of the IPC against husband Vinod Kumar, father-in-law Dharam Chand, mother-in-law Bimla Devi, brother-in-law Manoj Kumar and sister-in-law Usha Devi. He said after completing preliminary investigations police action would be taken in the case. — OC
