Haircuts can be life changing. A good trim has the power to make you feel like a million bucks, but a bold chop can instantly upgrade you. If model-of-the-moment Winnie Harlow’s Big chop is any indication, we’re witnessing an icon-in-the-making moment. Remember Princess Diana, whose major crop made her queen of hair inspiration, Karlie Kloss, who made the bob the sexiest cut we’d seen in ages and Linda Evangalista whose boyish cut put the OG supermodel on the map?
Well this week, Harlow, who is best known for her bombshell waves, debuted a decidedly more natural look with a closely cropped head of springy natural curls. Not surprisingly, it’s chic as hell.
This is the kind of cut we’d call a game changer. Up until now, the model with vitiligo flaunted a rather long hair. While gorgeous, it’s easy to get lost in the blur of one-size-fits-all red carpet waves. The new crop is fresher and takes a serious stab at the old stereotype that long hair has exclusive rights to sexy and sultry territory.
Best of all, Winnie Harlow’s Big chop is all natural. “To all the women in the world: Embrace your beauty, love yourself. Do not expect or rely on others to call you pretty if you do not know it nor believe it,” the model said in an Instagram post. “You do not need to be told, just take a glance in the mirror.”
With a feature flattering crop like this, we have a feeling tearing yourself away from the mirror will be easier said than done.
