NASHIK: The post of vice-chancellor for the Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU), which has been lying vacant since August 19 this year, is likely to be filled in over the next two months.
The three-member search panel, recommending suitable names for the VC’s post, has finally invited applications from eligible candidates.
“The three-member committee comprises Justice Mohit Shah, former Chief Justice of the Bombay high court, Professor Ajay Kumar Sharma, director of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) in New Delhi and Sitaram Kunte, principal secretary to the state government, higher & technical education department in Mumbai.
According to the committee’s directions, the online applications are being invited for the post of Vice-Chancellor,” said Santosh Sable, official spokesperson of the university.
The search committee has appointed Manisha Singh, assistant registrar of NIT, Delhi as the nodal officer to conduct this process. Applications shall be sent in a word format by email to Nodal Officer by January 6, 2017. Interested individuals have to submit a two-page justification for his / her candidature, and a two-page vision statement for the university along with the applications.
Institutions may also nominate suitable candidates. During the two-year tenure of Manikrao Salunkhe, who resigned in August, the university moved towards complete digitization process and successfully implemented digital admission, examination and valuation process.
