A pick-up truck that was stolen in Vaughan with the driver’s two-year-old Rottweiler inside has been found.

According to police, a man left his Honda Ridgeline running and unlocked as he went into a convenience store near Highway 7 and Martin Grove Road Tuesdday night. He told police that his pet dog was sitting on the backseat of the truck at the time.

When he returned to the parking lot, he found his truck and dog were gone.

Police began searching for the missing vehicle in the surrounding area and located it and the dog abandoned in a parking lot near Silverstone Drive and Martin Grove Road shortly after 9:30 p.m.

York Regional Police are reminding motorists to avoid leaving vehicles running unattended.
