NAGPUR: Nagpur University would be conducting summer examinations in five phases, commencing from March 7. About 1,081 exams would be conducted where over four lakh students will appear, according to pro-VC Pramod Yeole.
In first phase, students of about 33 certificate courses, including foreign languages like French, German and Russian along with Pali Prakrit, English, Telugu, Urdu and Bengali, will be appearing for their exams.

Major chunk of students would appear in the second phase starting from March 22, where first and final year papers of BA, BCom, BCCA, BSc, BBA, BCA, BSc (IT and Home Science), BSW, BFD, BID, BJD, BPE, BEd, BFD, BTS and BHMCT, would be conducted.
The third phase would begin from April 11. Papers of second year graduation along with that of odd semesters of MA, MCom, MSc, MSW, MIRPM, MCM, MPEd, MLS, MLISc, MHRDEF, MFA, BJ and MA (Mass Communication) would be conducted in the same phase.
The fourth phase from April 20 would see even semester exams conducted for the same subjects.
The all-important engineering and technology exams would be conducted in the last phase beginning from April 28, for first to tenth semesters of all (BE/BTech/BArch) branches. Dates for practical exams will be declared later.
“We’re tentatively planning to end all exams before May end, as per the current timetable. To avoid late declaration of BSc exams results like what happened last year, we will be conducting even semesters before the odd ones, so that the final year students do not suffer,” Yeole told TOI.
He hoped that with recent advancements, NU would be able to streamline the exam system. “The reforms have started bearing fruits. Our fourth phase of winter exams began on Tuesday where we distributed about 164 question papers online to the centres. Over 2.17 lakh students would appear in 391 subjects from 175 centres in this last phase of winter exams, which is biggest one in terms of papers and students. We conduct over 800 exams in winter, thousand in summer,” pro-VC said.
