Tuskers add to majesty of Goddess Padmavathi

Goddess Padmavathi Devi is the only female goddess who enjoys all Vahana sevas and annual festivals.

Tirupati: The annual Karthika Brahmotsavams of Goddess of prosperity and serenity Sri Padmavathi Devi of Tiruchanoor is a grand affair and is witnessed by thousands of devotees. Goddess Padmavathi Devi is the only female goddess who enjoys all Vahana sevas and annual festivals on par with Lord Venkateswara including the annual Brahmotsavams, Teppotsavams, Vasanthotsavams, etc.

Like Garuda, the King of Aves, to Lord Venkateswara, elephant is considered to be the most favourite vehicle of Goddess Padmavathi Devi. Accordingly, starting from the Dhwajarohanam, every where we see the importance of the majestic elephant in the event. Every day, during Vahana sevas, the grandeur of the Goddess is led by Padmavathi (38), Mahalakshmi (35), Padmaja (35), Vaishnavi (15) and Srinidhi (8), the female pachyderms blessed in the divine service of Ammavaru.

The female tuskers are the special attraction during the nine-day annual event of Goddess Padmavathi Devi. The procession of these elephants before Vahana sevas adds to the magnificence of the event.
