One man panel probes death of Ilavarasan

Dharmapuri: A one-man commission appointed by the government to probe the truth in the death of dalit youth Ilavarasan, begins its second round of investigation on the incident.

Retired justice S.R.Singaravelu, appointed as the commission head, issued summons to six peope to appear before him at Dharmapuri circuit bungalow on Tuesday. They include the village administrative officer Jayaraman, his assistants Munusamy and Parasuraman of Thadangam village from where Ilavarasan body was recovered.

Ilavarasan's father Elangovan, railway police officer Rajkumar and constable Raman were also summoned. They appeared before the commission head.
The commission will conduct its probe till December 2. "The judge asked whether we are ready to give our statement in writing. For which, sought time to discuss with the advocate and then inform our decision to the commission," said Elangovan after appearing before the commission.

In 2012, Ilavarasan married a Vannia girl Divya leading to the caste violence in Dharmapuri. Divya's relatives angry over the suicide death of the girl's father Nagaraj burnt houses of dailt people in Nayakan Kottai, Anna Nagar and Natham villages.

Later, Ilavarasan was found dead on the railway track behind the government arts college here. The dalit boy died a few days after his wife Divya went to live wih her mother.

Following the recovery of a suicide note police closed the case. They said an upset Illavarasan jumped before a running train and died. His relatives suspected foul play and demanded CBI enquiry for Ilavarasan's death. The state government appointed the one man commission to find truth in the claim of Ilavarasan family.
