Nina L. Diaz steps up to a bigger role at Viacom as Head of Unscripted for MTV and VH1. This is her second promotion in five months. She was upped to EVP and Head of Reality Programming for VH1 in June.

In her new role, Diaz will oversee the development and production of all unscripted programming for MTV and VH1. She’ll continue to report to Chris McCarthy, who was recently named President of MTV, VH1 and Logo.

“Nina has made a career of developing big, bold series that cut through and emerge as cultural touchstones, from Martha & Snoop to Cribs to the most successful seasons of Love & Hip Hop,” said McCarthy in a statement. “I couldn’t ask for a better partner, and I’m thrilled she’ll be taking on this expanded role and building on her incredible legacy at MTV and VH1.”

The promotion marks a return to MTV for Diaz, where she previously spent 10 years. During her time at MTV, she developed and launched shows such as My Super Sweet 16 and Cribs. She is also credited with conceiving the idea for The Osbournes.

“I’m humbled by this wonderful opportunity to return to MTV, while continuing to work with my incredibly talented colleagues at VH1. Chris is a true visionary and I’m grateful for his trust in me. VH1 and MTV have contributed so much to the unscripted genre and it’s an honor to tell stories through the lens of these iconic brands,” said Diaz in a statement.

Diaz joined VH1 in 2014 as svp of East Coast Development. Since then, she has overseen some the network’s biggest hits, including the Love & Hip Hop franchise, Stevie J & Joseline, Black Ink Crew: Chicago and the recent Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, which debuted to 1.7 million viewers. She also developed and oversaw the revival of America’s Next Top Model, scheduled to premiere next month.

Before joining VH1, Diaz worked as an independent producer, developing hits including Mob Wives and Real Housewives of New Jersey for Bravo.
