AMRITSAR: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) Vice-Chancellor Prof AS Brar laid the foundation stone for a food court for the girls’ hostel and a common food court at the university here today.

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) Vice-Chancellor Prof AS Brar laid the foundation stone for a food court for the girls’ hostel and a common food court at the university here today.

Meanwhile, a newly constructed Indoor Complex for University Health Centre having isolated ward and other wards for men and women with modern facilities was also inaugurated by Professor Brar. This extension included construction of male, female and isolation wards and a doctor’s duty room. The extension of the health centre has been done out of the grant of Rs 60 lakh provided by the UGC under the XII plan.

Prof NS Tung, Dean, academic affairs; Prof Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Registar; Prof KS Kahlon, Dean Student’s Welfare; Prof RK Mahajan, Dean, College Development Council; Dr HS Randhawa, Deputy Director, Sports; security officer and wardens of the girls’ hostel and staff of the engineering department were among those others present.

Professor Brar said these state-of-the-art two-storeyed buildings for food courts would accommodate 400 and 500 students at one time, respectively.

He said the area of food courts was 13,850 sq ft and 19,700 sq ft and the estimated cost was Rs 2.45 crore and Rs 3.30 crore, respectively.

He said the objective of these buildings was to provide delicious and healthy varieties of food for students under one roof.
