IGMC, Tanda hospital to have emergency wards: Kaul Singh

SHIMLA: In order to strengthen emergency services, the state government has decided to establish emergency wards in the two premier health institutions of the state - Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, said Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur.

In order to strengthen emergency services, the state government has decided to establish emergency wards in the two premier health institutions of the state - Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla and Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, said Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur.

While presiding over the governing body meeting of Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of the IGMC Shimla here today, Thakur said that a trauma centre would be established in the upcoming OPD building of the IGMC so that immediate treatment could be ensured in accident cases. Water ATMs would also be installed in the IGMC and Kamla Nehru Hospital, Shimla to facilitate patients and their attendants.

The minister directed the hospital administration to send the proposal to the state government for filling vacant posts of different categories and for absorbing the outsource employees into the RKS. He said that the government would provide a sum of Rs 552.50 lakh to the RKS as grant-in-aid and Rs 17.45 lakh would be provided by the state and Union governments for various schemes.

Local MLA Suresh Bhardwaj and Mayor Sanjay Chauhan also gave their suggestions for bringing further improvement in the functioning of the RKS. Principal Secretary, Health, Prabodh Saxena, Principal, Indira Gandhi Medical College Dr Ashok Sharma, other senior doctors and members of the RKS attended the meeting.
