MLA announces Rs 9.5 cr for building schools

KANGRA: Kangra MLA Pawan Kajal today said Rs 9.5 crore would be spent to construct new schools in the region.

Kangra MLA Pawan Kajal today said Rs 9.5 crore would be spent to construct new schools in the region. The MLA was here to inaugurate the Government Senior Secondary School at Birta village. He said eight high schools in the rural areas were upgraded to senior secondary level to provide higher education.

Pawan Kajal gifted Rs 5,100 to Akshay Kumar of Government Senior Secondary School, Birta, on selection in the state hand ball team and gave Rs 11,000 to the girls who participated in the cultural program organised today.

The MLA also announced Rs 1 lakh for the first three position holders in the board examination. Principal Mamta Thakur presented the annual report of the school on the occasion.

MLA Pawan Kajal said 17 hand pumps had been installed during the last four years to ensure drinking water supply in the region. He announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the cremation ground at Birta village of the district.

He said the state government had provided financial assistance of Rs 5.72 lakh to 52 poor families in the Kangra constituency.
