Five Naxalites arrested in Jharkhand with Rs 31.5 lakh in demonetised notes

The Indo-Nepal border guarding force, Sashastra Seema Bal has arrested 5 Naxalites including one senior commander with Rs 31.5 lakh in now demonetised Rs 500 & 1000 notes in Jharkhand’s Dumka. ​Intelligence inputs suggests that Naxalites are desperately trying to exchange their old currency notes.

NEW DELHI: The Indo-Nepal border guarding force, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has arrested five Naxalites including one senior commander with Rs 31.5 lakh in now demonetised Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes in Jharkhand’s Dumka area.
Officials say that the seizure is one the biggest from the Naxalites in last 20 days since Narendra Modi government took the decision.
The government has claimed on the basis of intelligence inputs that Naxalites are desperately trying to exchange their old currency notes.
The SSB’s 18th battalion jawans in Dumka, Jharkhand received information that a Naxal Zonal Commander, Mithilesh was travelling in two vehicles on Monday from Chandni Chow-Narganj area in Dumka.
During the operation, they were caught and their vehicles were checked. The Jawans found old currency notes worth Rs 31,53,300, two country made pistols, two live rounds, five bank cheques, five ATM cards, Naxalites literature and seven mobile phones from their possession.
The other four Naxalites were identified as Shri Ram, Chandan Kumar, Sunny Kumar and Ajay Kumar.
IG SSB Deepak Kumar said, “Mithilesh alias Mota operated in Santhal Pargana range and there are 10 different criminal cases related to encounter, ambush, levy collection, murder etc against him”.
